Britain’s Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla visited India’s Military Academy yesterday (11.07.13).

The royal couple turned up at the training centre in Dehradun in northern India for the second day of their nine-day tour of the nation.

The pair were given the chance to look around the premises, before meeting future officers and watching an exhibition of horsemanship.

The training centre was formed in 1932 and is the equivalent of the UK’s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

The rest of the pair’s trip will include a visit to one of the world’s largest Hindu temples in New Delhi and one of the oldest active synagogues in the commonwealth, which is located in Kochi in the south Indian state of Kerala.

In Mumbai, the couple are planning to pay their respects to victims of the 2008 terrorist attacks on the city. They will be meeting with staff of the Taj Mahal hotel, who saved guests’ lives by guiding them to safety during the atrocities.

Camilla will also be attending a number of solo engagements before helping her husband celebrate his 65th birthday on the final day of their tour.

They will then travel to Sri Lanka, where Charles is attending the 2013 Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting on behalf of his mother, Queen Elizabeth.
