Prince coming to Montreal Jazz Festival

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter will play two late night shows.

Initially, organizers of the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal must have thought it was a joke when they received a call from U.S. pop star Prince asking if he could perform at the event.

The Purple Rain hitmaker requested an intimate venue with a dance floor, and so organizers have arranged his concerts on June 24 and 25 at the Metropolis club, which has capacity for 2,000.

The performance is scheduled to begin at 11:30 pm, with tickets, priced at $155 to $172, available as of today (June 14) at noon, with a maximum purchase of four.

Prince has been touring U.S. with his Welcome 2 America tour, and is scheduled to perform in Europe this summer beginning with France on June 30.
