Prince George to be christen Wednesday afternoon

Britain’s Prince George is to be christened at 3pm next Wednesday (23.10.13).

Kensington Palace has confirmed the baptism of Prince William and Duchess Catherine’s two-month-old son will take place in The Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace, central London, and will be conducted by The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.

Queen Elizabeth is partly responsible for the 45-minute ceremony taking place in the afternoon as she is holding a reception at Buckingham Palace earlier in the day for the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.

Despite speculation about who George’s godparents will be, royal aides have confirmed such details, and those about who else has been invited to the event, will not be known until the day.

It was recently reportedly the ceremony will be an intimate affair, which could see William’s aunts, Princess Anne and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, as well as George’s great-uncles, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, all excluded from the guest list.

What’s more, William’s school friend Fergus Boyd and Catherine’s school pal Emilia d’Erlanger have been heavily tipped to be two of the youngster’s godparents.

Princess Beatrice was the last royal baby to be christened at The Chapel Royal in 1988, while the queen, Prince Charles and William were all christened at Buckingham Palace.
