Prince George will be an Aston Villa fan

Britain’s Duke of Cambridge wants to take his son, Prince George, to see Aston Villa ”thrash Man U” when he’s older.

Britain’s Prince George will grow up supporting Aston Villa.

His father Prince William is a huge fan of the English Premier League heavyweights, and he is keen for his three-month-old son to follow in his footsteps.

He made his intentions clear about the youngster’s footballing future during a video filmed for the 150th anniversary of The Football Association (The FA).

In the message, he spoke passionately about his pride in being President of The FA and was quick to answer questions about who his son will support when he’s older, saying he will be at the club’s home, Villa Park, to see Villa destroy Manchester United one day. He said: ”When [Aston] Villa thrash Man U [Manchester United] at Villa Park, my son will be there.”

The proud dad, who has been an avid supporter of the Villans from a young age, also spoke about the importance of football around the world in his video message.

He added: ”I’ve always loved football since I was a young boy. I’ve never got any better at it but I keep saying to myself if you keep trying, eventually something will happen.

”There’s a lot of good that football can do around the world, and in this country.

”But globally it is a huge force for good and a lot of people love, respect and enjoy their football more than anything else in their lives.”

In July, Jamaican sprinter and United fan Usain Bolt insisted the duke shouldn’t raise newly-christened George as an Aston Villa fan and told him to pick ”a winning team” instead.

The Olympian joked: ”I just hope he doesn’t follow in his daddy’s footsteps and become an Aston Villa fan.

”It isn’t fair to put a child through that – especially not a prince.

”It’s only fair he gets to support a winning team.”
