Prince George’s gown worn at christening

Prince George’s christening robe has been worn again by the first grandchild of Britain’s Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

Prince George’s christening robe has been worn again by another royal baby.

Maud Elizabeth Daphne Marine Windsor, the daughter of Lord Freddie Windsor and ‘Peep Show’ actress Sophie Winkleman, was dressed in Queen Victoria’s replica christening gown, which was used for Prince George’s christening in October.

Although four-month-old Maud, who is the first grandchild of Britain’s Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, is 42nd in line to the throne, her family followed tradition and dressed her in the delicate lace robe for the blessing yesterday (16.12.13).

The original gown was worn for all Royal baptisms, including Queen Elizabeth herself, along with her children and grandchildren.

In 2008, she commissioned her dresser, Angella Kelly, to make a hand-made replica in order to preserve the original.

Maud, who was born in Los Angeles where her parents live, was also baptised in the same church as Prince William and Catherine’s son, Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace in London.

The baby’s proud grandfather Prince Michael of Kent, the Queen’s cousin, arrived at the ceremony with his wife and their daughter Lady Gabriella, along with other members of the Royal Family.

The replica gown was first worn by James, Viscount Severn, son of the Earl and Countess of Wessex, in April this year.

It is likely to have another outing when Zara Phillips gives birth to her first child with husband, rugby player Mike Tindall, in January.
