Britain’s Prince Philip visited volunteers restoring a rare bog in Norfolk yesterday (30.09.13).

The 92-year-old royal – who underwent explanatory abdominal surgery in June – appeared to be in high spirits as he arrived at the Dersingham nature reserve in Sandringham following his summer vacation spent at the Queen’s Balmoral estate in Scotland.

The Duke of Edinburgh attended as the Patron of The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), a national charity which encourages people to improve their health by throwing themselves into projects, and he happily chatted away to the organizers before going on a tour of the area.

Following the tour, the Prince – who was dressed in a maroon patterned suit and dark tie – presented certificates to volunteers who have been working on local projects for the TCV.

As of next week Philip – who normally attends at least 300 public visits every year – will return to his full program of engagements.

Meanwhile, the Queen – who is currently staying at her Balmoral estate – is expected to return to London within the next couple of days, with Prince Philip expected to fly back to the UK capital any day now.
