Prince tour announced

Purple Rain pop star announces Welcome 2 America tour

First there was Prince, then the artist formerly known as Prince, and an unpronounceable symbol—now we’re back to Prince. Despite the name changes, the hugely talented and successful Minneapolis multi-instrumentalist hits the road in December, according to spinner.ca.

At a press conference yesterday (October 14) at the famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, Prince, 52,  announced his new tour, Welcome 2 America, gets underway in December. Although no specific dates or cities were named, it seems the first portion would be held on the east coast.

According to Billboard, Prince will not only sing on stage, he will act as master of ceremonies for a host of guest artists, some of which include Cassandra Wilson, Maceo Parker, Esperanza Spalding, Mint Condition, Janelle Monae, Sheila E and New Power Generation.

Prince also unveiled his gold-plated Fender guitar, which will be auctioned off at the end of the tour to raise funds for children’s charity, Harlem Empowerment Zone.
