Britain’s Princess Anne will officially unveil the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic in Edinburgh today (10.08.13), which was set up by author J.K. Rowling.

Britain’s Princess Anne is due to open a multiple sclerosis research clinic in Edinburgh today (10.08.13).

The Princess Royal, who is Chancellor of Edinburgh University, will officially unveil the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic on the Scottish campus, which was set up by bestselling author J.K. Rowling in memory of her late mother, who succumbed to the degenerative nervous system disease aged 45.

The ‘Harry Potter’ author told the BBC: ”I am moved and elated to see the Anne Rowling Clinic formally opened today by HRH The Princess Royal.

”Having observed the plans for the clinic develop and expand to fulfil the needs of patients, clinicians and researchers, I am now very proud to see the building finished and operating as the beating heart of this centre for excellence.

”Thank you to everyone who has been involved in its creation and operation.”

Anne, 63, will take a tour of the clinic, located next to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, and meet staff and students as they demonstrate the state of the art facilities and explain current research projects.

The Anne Rowling Clinic was built with a £10million donation from Rowling, and aims to find treatments to slow the progress of degenerative illnesses including Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s.
