The 26-year-old was transported to a Los Angeles hospital last night (January 3) at 8:00 by ambulance. Police officers had been called to the star’s home when Spears refused to turn her sons over to Kevin Federline. A standoff ensued for three hours, before the boys were released into the custody of Federline.
Jason Lee, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department, stated, "While officers were on the scene, they observed Ms. Spears under the influence of an unknown substance. She is now being taken in for an evaluation, more than likely to a hospital. There were no reported injuries to anyone involved including the children."
Spears’ father and sister, Jamie Lynn, were with her at the hospital. Earlier in the day, Spears had attended a deposition with Federline’s attorney for 14 minutes. The deposition was part of the ongoing custody dispute over Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1.
