Provence’s official wine route opens in June

French region developing its first official wine-based tour.

Long famed for its vintages, the French region of Provence will be launching an official ‘Route des vins de Provence’ (Wine Route of Provence) in June, reports Routard.

The region boasts over 300 vineyards covering eight appellations – legally defined geographical divisions where grapes for wine are grown.

Each participating vineyard or area will be marked with a sign reading ‘Route des vins de Provence,’ designating them as part of the official wine route.

Once completed, the route will stretch from Nice to Camargue, providing visitors to the region with a variety of options for exploring. Guests can enjoy the scenic drive and stop off at any point along the route for a visit and wine-tasting at a welcoming vineyard.

Following its launch later this year, the program’s official website will help potential visitors to plan their travel itinerary by providing information on the program and participating vineyards.
