In an interview with Billboard, Queen Latifah said that she was thrilled to be back in the studio recording a new album.
Although the disc will feature a lot of singing, the actress and singer confirmed that it will still have hip-hop roots.
The new album, entitled Persona, will be released on August 22, and was independently produced and promoted by Queen Latifah. The star insists that her only motivation for creating the album was to share the music, and she has no expectations for sales.
Queen Latifah’s last album was 1997’s Trav’lin’ Light. Since then, she has been concentrating on film projects.
