Quinn Hughes: “What’s he (Jack) supposed to say?”

Jack Hughes’ recent comments thathe’d like to play with his brother Quinn at some point have been making the rounds on social networks in the last few hours, and Jack’s assumption that he’s not afraid to say so openly has given fans in Vancouver a bit of a scare… because the Canucks captain’s situation seems to be pretty nebulous. but Quinn was keen to reassure everyone today. He was met by journalists in Vegas(as reported by Pierre LeBrun), and right off the bat, he had this to say about his brother’s outburst:
What’s he supposed to say?

Of course, the brothers love the idea of playing on the same team one day. They’ve grown up together, they have a great relationship… and it would be the same for anyone else too. But Quinn went on to say that he understands the fact that right now, he and Jack are under contract with their respective teams. And the man who wears the “C” on his Vancouver jersey maintains that he’s excited to be playing for the Canucks and that there probably wouldn’t be so many rumours if his club had had a good last season, as was expected.
Quinn Hughes was impressive Wednesday. The Canucks captain answered every question head on at the NHL Player Media Tour. Especially on brother Jack’s comments: ‘What’s he supposed to say?’ My latest for@TheAthletic

[content-ads] At the same time, he wasn’t about to say otherwise.
As captain of the Canucks, he had “no right” to say that Jack was right and that his goal is to leave the organization at some point. That would have sounded a little crazy, coming from the team’s undisputed leader. That said, it doesn’t mean he’s in Vancouver to stay, and it doesn’t mean he’s going to spend his entire career playing in a Canucks uniform either. Quinn Hughes knows he’s still under contract – he’s got two years left on his deal – and if he hasn’t signed a contract by then, he’ll be able to “pick the team” he wants by testing the free agent market.Unless he gets traded and it comes with a contract extension starting July 1, 2026, we agree. But since yesterday, we’ve been hearing a lot about this situation, and it’s likely to get even more intense in the coming months too. Quinn Hughes wanted to calm everyone down a bit (I get the impression he doesn’t want to create any distractions in his club’s dressing room) and for the time being, he remains a member of the Vancouver Canucks. For how much longer, though? Here’s the killer question [spacer title=’Overtime’] – Well done.
