R.E.M. to launch greatest hits album

Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage 1982–2011 due out in November.

Barely 48 hours after announcing their breakup, American alt rock band R.E.M. announced plans to launch a greatest hits album Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage 1982–2011 due out November 15, reports Consequence of Sound.

Founded in 1980 in Athens, Georgia, the band announced Wednesday, September 21 they were discontinuing their artistic collaboration after 31 years.

At the beginning, R.E.M. was extremely prolific, releasing six consecutive albums in six years. The new compilation will have the opportunity to dip into Collapse Into Now, the group’s 15th and last studio album launched last March.

However, the group did complete a few more songs after the release of their last album and, according to Rolling Stone, some of them might end up on the upcoming compilation Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage: 1982 to 2011.
