Radiohead says new album completed

Thom Yorke tells DJ that Radiohead has just finished new album.

English alt rock band Radiohead has completed a new album, according to BBC Radio 1 DJ Gilles Peterson’s off-camera conversation with the band frontman Thom Yorke.

"I think we’re just lucky that Radiohead are having some free time at the moment. And Thom was just hanging out. He enjoyed himself. And there’s a new Radiohead album if you’re wondering. Just done I believe," said Peterson.

The conversation took place backstage at some point during The Worldwide Awards, an annual awards ceremony created by Peterson to recognize international underground music. Yorke was on-hand to present the award for Album of the Year, which went to U.S. indie musician Flying Lotus.

If the rumour is true, this will be the first new music release from Radiohead since 2007’s In Rainbows, which debuted at number one on both the U.K. Albums Chart and Billboard 200 in the U.S.

The band’s seventh studio album, In Rainbows won two Grammy Awards at the 2009 ceremony, for best alternative music album, and best special limited edition package.
