Real-life lovers team up on the big screen

Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis will act together for the first time.

The Playlist says Johnny Depp and his partner, Vanessa Paradis, will light up the big screen together for the first time in the film My American Dream.

Lasse Hallström is directing the project. He worked with Depp before on the films Chocolat (2000) and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993).

Depp says, "Vanessa plays the French feminist Simone de Beauvoir and I play her lover Nelson Algren who is real macho."

Shooting begins in 2011.

Depp and Paradis have been together for 12 years. They have two children, Lily-Rose, 10, and John Christopher, 7, also known as Jack.

Depp is filming The Tourist right now in Italy with Angelina Jolie. He then hooks up with the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides cast to continue shooting that film. It is scheduled to be released on May 20, 2011.

He might begin another film at the end of the year, Tim Burton’s Dark Shadow.

Johnny Depp stars in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland coming out next Friday (March 5). He plays the Mad Hatter.
