Red Hot Chili Peppers confirm new album for August

I’m With You due out August 30.

American rock band the Red Hot Chili Peppers finally have a new album coming out at the end of August, bassist Flea confirmed on Twitter yesterday (June 5).

"It gives me profound pleasure deep in the fiber of my being to announce the August 30 release date of the new Red Hot Chili Peppers’s record," wrote the musician.

The new album will be called I’m With You. The album’s first official single, The Adventures of Raindance Maggie, will drop on July 18.

The band has undergone some changes since their last album, 2006’s Stadium Arcadium. Most notably, guitarist Josh Klinghoffer has stepped in to replace John Frusciante, who is busy pursuing a solo career.

"Josh has never really had a band he was part of… he came in with sort of a lifetime of music… a real reservoir of chords and ideas… and now he has a place for it," frontman Anthony Kiedis told KROQ.

"The big difference, writing wise, for this album is Flea got his piano playing together, and so instead of him coming in with really cool ideas for the bass guitar, he’d come in with really cool ideas for the piano," added Kiedis.
