Red Hot Chili Peppers heat up the studio

The first Chili Peppers album since John Frusciante’s departure is in the works.

The most popular albums in the history of the Red Hot Chili Peppers have been when their guitarist was the prolific John Frusciante. He has now come and gone twice. Both times he was in were the greatest moments in the band’s history.

With this in mind, fans await the release of the California group’s next album. The band just announced that recording will begin this summer. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have welcomed Josh Klinghoffer into the fold to replace departing guitarist Frusciante. Klinghoffer, who is best known as a multi-instrumentalist musician, will have the chance to participate in the creative process.

Another point that might influence Red Hot Chili Peppers’ writing is the time bassist Flea spent touring with Thom Yorke. The Radiohead frontman  is one of the most respected creative forces in music today.

Drummer Chad Smith talked about Frusciante’s departure and Klinghoffer’s arrival to MusicRadar.com. He said: "We were sad to see John leave the band, but he has to do what he wants and follow his path. We’re all thrilled to have Josh be part of the group now. He’s been a friend of ours for a long time. He’s played with us, he’s played with John — he’s a real natural fit."

No official release date has been given for the new album.
