On Sunday (November 29), People magazine announced that the celebrity couple had called it quits, though no other details were revealed.
However, today the magazine published a brief story with comments from the two actors’ reps. Nanci Ryder, who represents Reese Witherspoon, and Carrie Byalick, from the Gyllenhaal camp, both confirmed that breakup rumours are false. They said, "They are still together."
Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal met on the set of their film Rendition in 2007. Reports of a romance began shortly after their meeting. The two quietly confirmed the romance, and were seen together vacationing in Paris in the summer of 2008.
Witherspoon recently spoke about her man during an interview with Vogue magazine, saying, "He’s very supportive. Suffice it to say, I’m very happy in life, and I’m very lucky to have a lot of really supportive people around me who care very much for me, and, you know, that’s all you can hope for in life. I am very blessed in that way."
She added that she and Gyllenhaal spend their weekends away from the lights of Los Angeles at her farm in Ojai.
Reese Witherspoon has two children, Ava, 10, and Deacon, 6, from her previous marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe.
