According to Now magazine, Zellweger revealed that her marriage to country singer Kenny Chesney was the biggest mistake of her life. Their union lasted officially 128 days. The marriage itself came only four months after the two began dating. The two were wed on May 9, 2005, in St. John in the Caribbean.
The Chicago star filed for the marriage to be annuled in September of the same year. The principal reason for the annulment was fraud, and the request was granted in December.
For the first time, the 37 year-old star gave some insight to her life during that time. Zellweger said, "There was no alternative but to let it go. I made the biggest personal mistake of my life. I felt a fool. I was looking for something else. I was going through huge life changes at the time. I wanted to stop and be a girl for a while."
Zellweger added that Chesney was not happy when she invited a friend to stay with them at their farm. The actress revealed that Chesney was not accepting of her friends.
