Restoring a battered image

R&B singer Chris Brown will headline a charity concert in his home state.

Big stars can sometimes get away with doing bad things if the person they offend is not as famous as they are and stays silent. However, when you beat up one of the most popular singers of the decade, well, you are in for a very public fall from grace.

This is what happened after Chris Brown violently attacked singer Rihanna last year. Besides the legal mess he brought on himself, he also found himself up against an angry public.

One year later, Chris Brown is slowly resurfacing. He is quietly trying to rebuild his battered public image through good deeds. Charity events are a great way to restore the public’s faith in you.

Brown’s latest move is to headline Virginia Stand Up! A Call to Action, a concert taking place on May 15 in Richmond, Virginia.

The show will also feature performances by Keri Hilson, Trey Songz, T-Pain, Ryan Leslie, Mario and Juelz Santana. Funds raised will go to the Greater Richmond Chapter of the American Red Cross for their Haitian relief efforts and the Richmond food bank.

He released a statements saying: "I wanted to find a way to contribute personally to the ongoing Haitian relief effort and also support an organization that helps people in need in my home state. The images I see on television, both in my community and in Haiti, remind me that everyone has to do their part."
