Richard Ashcroft Returns to Solo Work

Singer from The Verve, Richard Ashcroft, has announced that he will again be concentrating on his solo career.

Despite the fact that his band, The Verve, is ready to release their first album in 11 years, singer Richard Ashcroft plans to pursue his solo projects.

During an interview with BBC Radio 1, the singer revealed that he always planned to continue working on his own material.  He added that he returned to the group because he felt that it was unfair to leave his mates dangling after their split in 1999.

The new disc from The Verve will be released on August 25.  Forth is the fourth album from the English group.  Their last CD, Urban Hymns, is the fifth fastest selling disc in English history.

Ashcroft has already recorded three solo albums.  The most recent, Keys to the World, was released in 2006.
