Rihanna, who is making her official comeback since she her assault incident with Chris Brown, wanted to give her forthcoming Rated R album the ultimate rock’n’roll touch. The singer recruited guitarist Slash to perform on Rockstar 101, one of the new tracks on the disc.
As in her last album, which featured a collaboration with Maroon 5, Rihanna wants to continue to appeal to a larger audience by adding variety to her music. This time, with Slash’s contribution, she wants make sure that Rated R gets the right rock edge.
Slash is planning a solo return, since his group, Velvet Revolver, has not managed to find a new frontman following Scott Weiland’s dismissal, stemming from recurrent drug problems. The former Guns N’ Roses guitarist has artists Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie and Cypress Hill in mind as collaborators for his next solo album, slated for 2010.
