Rihanna was left "crying like a pussy" after scoring her first number one album in the US.
The singer’s seventh record, ‘Unapologetic’, became her first to top the US charts at the weekend, selling 238,000 copies, and when she belatedly found out this morning (28.11.12), it made her particularly emotional.
She tweeted: "Wait!!!!! What the F**K?!!!! #UNAPOLOGETIC just debuted at #1 in AMERICA!!!!! My first number 1 album there!!! Thank you Navy, u deserve it (sic)
"I’m legit crying like a pussy right now!! #UNAPOLOGETIC (sic)."
The first single from the album, ‘Diamonds’, is also at the top of the US Billboard singles chart, her twelfth single to do so.
Earlier this week, Rihanna said she was worried ‘Unapologetic’ may flop because she had been under pressure to complete it quickly, and recorded until two weeks before release.
She said: "I was freaked out when we pulled the trigger with our single and I was like, ‘This album needs to be just as great and I don’t feel like I have enough time.’"
Upon completing the album on November 4, Rihanna had tweeted: "Man my album is complete, and I need a f***ing drink and a roll up! It was quite the journey, but it’s all part of our story! #UNAPOLOGETIC (sic)."
The ‘Where Have You Been’ singer then launched the record with a gruelling tour which saw her appear in seven different countries over seven days.
