The film career singer Rihanna wished for will become a reality when she joins the cast of Battleship alongside Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood).
Battleship is an adaptation of the famous game by Hasbro, according to Variety. The film will tell the story of a great battle will take place both on the water in the air and on land, while a powerful force threatens the planet.
Kitsch stars as a naval officer, and Skarsgård plays his brother.
Peter Berg (Lions for Lambs, Collateral) will directing the film from the screenplay by Jon and Erich Hoeber (Whiteout).
Battleship due in theaters May 18, 2012.
Meanwhile, Rihanna will appear in concert in Montreal on August 7.
Unconfimed rumours have also circulated about Rihanna’s involvement with the film The Last Dragon, in which she would play opposite Samuel L. Jackson.
