Rihanna’s upcoming album, Loud, due out November 16, will feature songs deliberately tailored to the Barbadian pop queen.
Already on her fifth album, the 22-year old wanted to create a trademark sound that could only belong to her—and not to Ke$ha, Gaga, or Perry.
“I’ve never been this excited about anything I’ve done creatively, and this is just the perfect Rihanna album: Every song is tailored to me,” she told the BBC Radio 1.
“I wanted a song, or songs, that were Rihanna songs, that only I could do, had that little West Indian vibe to it, had that certain tone, a certain sass and a certain energy.
Friends with fellow pop queen, Katy Perry, Rihanna says they’ve discussed doing a duet together: “Something fun, something out of the box. I would love that. I hope so.”
Rihanna is also making her feature-film debut in Battleship, directed by Peter Berg, due out next year.
