Rita Ora wants to show Kosovan influence

Rita Ora wants to work on Kosovan music.

The 21-year-old singer moved to the UK from the war-torn Balkan country when she was just one year old and still remains in touch with her roots, and hopes to eventually perform in the region and use its influences in her work.

She said: "I’ve been back to Kosovo quite a lot. when someone expands to do something out of our country it’s a big deal because there aren’t many opportunities, unfortunately.

"I wish I could translate Kosovan music into my album. I tried but it doesn’t work yet. I’ll do it though.

"And I definitely want to play shows over there in the future and raise some money."

Rita is signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label and through her famous boss has met a string of superstars, including Kanye West and Coldplay’s Chris Martin, but she was most star-struck when she was introduced to Motown legend Stevie Wonder.

She added in an interview with The Sun newspaper: "I was in Jay-Z’s dressing room at a show in Los Angeles and Stevie Wonder came to say, ‘hi’. It was an epic moment. It was so amazing and surreal.

"I’m a girl from west London, born in Kosovo, watching Stevie say ‘hi’ to these sensational artists."
