Riu Hotels & Resorts continues its European expansion with the construction of the Hotel Riu Plaza Berlin in Germany, the third property under the Riu Plaza banner and the chain’s first urban hotel in Europe, reports TourMag.
Slated to open in June 2013, the four-star hotel will be located in the heart of well-known Berlin shopping area, Ku’Damm, only 350 meters from the famous luxury shop Kaufhaus des Westens (Department Store of the West).
Along with its 400 guest rooms, the hotel will offer a number of meeting spaces, each capable of accommodating up to 250 people. For those traveling on business, the hotel will feature Executive Class Service with a dedicated floor and lounge.
The Spanish chain was founded by the Riu family in 1953 and has over 100 properties in 19 countries. Now owned by a third generation of Rius, the company has started branching out from its traditional beachfront accommodations into urban hotels in major world cities.
