Robbie Williams unconvinced by fan reaction

Robbie Williams was convinced fans weren’t enjoying his ‘Swings Both Ways’ tour.

The ‘Angels’ hitmaker has found performing a much more stripped-back set in support of his latest swing album an ”exhilarating [but] terrifying experience” and was initially unsure of whether or not his European audiences were having a good time at the gigs.

He wrote on his blog: ”The ‘Swings Both Ways’ tour is a different animal than anything that I’ve done before…

”Therefore the audience is different than anything I’ve had before…

”This has proven to be exhilarating, terrifying and gratifying in equal measure.

”At the start of the tour I thought people weren’t enjoying it… But such is the distorted view of me, mine and what I have to offer.”

Robbie – whose wife Ayda Field is expecting their second child, a sibling for 20-month-old daughter Teddy – himself is enjoying the gigs so much, he is already planning his next tour, despite his current run of shows not coming to an end until late September.

He added: ”I’m enjoying myself so much I just want to be able to do it again (on this scale) somewhere down the line.”
