Michael Mann, who directed Ali and Collateral, will now direct the movie The Winter of Frankie Machine. Initially the movie was given to Martin Scorsese.
Mann will be working with Robert De Niro, whom he worked with 11 years ago on the movie Heat.
The New York actor will be playing Frank Machianno, former member of the mafia, who leaves the mob but becomes the target for another killer.
This is a police adaptation of the Don Winslow movie, The Winter of Frankie Machine.
