Iron Man star will lend his voice to animated Peabody and Sherman film.

Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. has agreed to be the voice of gifted dog Mr. Peabody, in the 3D animated film Peabody and Sherman, reports Entertainment Weekly.

Downey will voice the super-smart bespectacled dog Mr. Peabody who adopts a pet boy, and together they travel through time to discover some interesting moments in history.

Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia will write the script and the film is schedule for release in 2014.

In the meantime, Robert Downey Jr. is currently filming Sherlock Holmes 2 set for theatrical release this coming December. Then he will start filming The Avengers in which reprises his Iron Man role. The film is slated for theatrical release May 4, 2012.
