Robert Plant offers a taste of his new album

A few lucky industry insiders got to listen to Band of Joy before the rest of us.

Led Zeppelin abruptly ended in 1980 following the accidental death of renowned drummer John Bonham. Lead singer Robert Plant embarked on a solo career that has experienced its fair share of ups and downs.

Plant has been riding a wave of success lately due in large part to his collaboration with American bluegrass-country star Alison Krauss and producer T-Bone Burnett. They made magic together in 2007 and the result was the multi-platinum Raising Sand.

This album received five nominations at the 2009 Grammy Awards and won every one, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year.

Robert Plant now has a new album to offer fans that takes him back to his early country, bluegrass roots. He invited a select group of industry insiders to take a listen to his impending release.

Plant told the assembled crowd: "It’s fantastic music, even though I say so myself."

The legendary musician intends to reunite with Krauss at some point to work on a follow-up album. He told Rolling Stone magazine back in March: "Alison and I get together quite often… and sometimes we dance."
