Robert Plant, The Who perform benefit concert

Led Zep frontman joins English supergroup in star-studded line-up for British cancer benefit concert.

Former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant has joined the list of artists performing at ‘A Concert for Killing Cancer’ on January 13 at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, reports Orange News. Concert profits will be used to fund trials for photodynamic therapy (PDT) treatment.

Plant’s manager Bill Curbishley explains the reason behind the star’s participation: "Robert and I had lived through the final months and days of close friends battling with cancer, but also fighting to overcome the effects of their treatments.

"Only later we discovered that PDT could perhaps have saved their lives – and certainly given them some dignity in their final weeks.”

In addition to Plant, other artists who have confirmed attendance at the cancer research fundraising concert include The Who, Jeff Beck, and Debbie Harry, former lead singer of Blondie.
