It’s no secret that the Laval Rocket has had a very difficult start to the season. That’s to be expected with the number of young players in the line-up, but the 1-6-1 start was hard for everyone to swallow.
We don’t know if Friday night’s game will be a turning point in the Rocket’s young start to the season, but it very well could be.
The Rocket, led by Logan Mailloux and Phillipe Maillet, helped Laval come from behind to beat the Toronto Marlies 5-3.

Toronto was leading 3-1, yes yes, 3-1, against the CH’s club-school when Mailloux and Maillet took matters into their own hands midway through the third period. The defender fired a shot towards the net, and Maillet pounced on the return to close the gap.

In the moments that followed, Jan Mysak grabbed another throwback from the blue line to beat Martin Jones and create the tie.

It was Maillet again who caused hysteria at Place Bell, deflecting Mailloux’s shot with just over a minute left in the game.
The three goals were scored in 8:03 and gave the Rocket their first win since October 20.
The win will feel good, the way they went about getting it even more so.
The Rocket will meet the Marlies again tomorrow at Place Bell.
