Rod Stewart welcomes baby number 8

Rocker’s third wife, Penny Lancaster, gives birth to baby boy Aiden.

On Wednesday (February 16), British rocker Rod Stewart, 66, became a father for the eighth time after wife Penny Lancaster gave birth to their son Aiden in the U.K., reports Us  magazine.

"After the long-awaited arrival of their second child, Rod and Penny are proud and thrilled to welcome Alastair’s baby brother, Aiden, into the world,” said a statement from the couple. "Mother and baby are healthy and blissfully happy." Little Aiden weighed in at 7 lbs., 12 oz.

The Maggie May hitmaker married Penny Lancaster, 39, in June 2007, and the couple has a son Alistair, 5. The model turned photographer had treatment for pre-cancerous cells on her cervix, and has spoken frankly of her struggle to conceive using IVF. Lancaster had suffered two miscarriages before the birth of Alastair, and has made no secret of her desire to give him a little brother or sister.

Although Stewart wasn’t anxious about being an older father, he told the Daily Mail: “As a parent of a new child, I’ll maybe only be around for 25 years at most. But it will be a happy, loving 25 years. You get children born into a family who have 25 miserable years. What’s the point in that?”

In addition to his two little sons, Stewart also has six children from four previous relationships, and they range in age from 16 to 46 (making the eldest seven years older than Lancaster): Kimberly, 31; Sean, 30; Ruby, 23; Renee, 18,  Liam, 16, plus another child, Sarah, who was born in 1964 and given up for adoption.
