Roger Daltrey talks about aging Who

Tommy having trouble with speech and hearing?

Who frontman Roger Daltrey, 67, talked about health problems the aging band members were facing, in an interview with Rolling Stone.

Daltrey, who is taking the Who’s seminal 1969 rock opera Tommy on the road solo this summer, gave mixed messages about being on the road with his bandmate Pete Townshend, guitarist for the famous U.K. band.

"Pete [Townshend] is having terrible hearing problems at the moment," Daltrey told Rolling Stone. "I’ve also had a voice scare. There’s nobody I’d rather be on stage with than Pete.

“But equally, I don’t want to be on stage with him destroying the last bit of his hearing. That would be completely foolish. He’s a composer."

While Daltrey is on the road bringing Tommy back to life, Townshend is at home putting the finishing touches on his autobiography, due out sometime in 2012.

In advance of the North American tour, a special contest has been launched with the chance to win tickets to see Daltrey perform Tommy and other Who classics.
