The Rolling Stones are to perform at Hyde Park this summer.

The legendary rock band are to headline the Barclaycard British Summer Time music festival on Saturday July 6 almost 44 years to the day since the group first played at the historic London venue.

The ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ rockers – comprised of Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts – are taking to the Hyde Park stage as part of their ’50 and Counting’ shows to commemorate their 50th anniversary last year.

Mick said: "We had such a great time playing the five concerts last year, we want to keep it going! Hyde Park holds such great memories for us and we can’t think of anywhere better to perform to our UK fans this summer."

Keith added: "We all had such a ball last year, and the energy between the band is so good, we can’t wait to get back on that stage where the Stones belong."

The Rolling Stones’ 1969 Hyde Park concert took place on July 5 just two days after founding member Brian Jones had died. Mick Taylor replaced the late guitarist and the show became a tribute to Brian.

The band will be supported by The Vaccines, The Temper Trap, Gary Clark Jr and King Charles, Palma Violets, Tribes and The Boxer Rebellion across the festival’s stages.

Today (03.04.13), The Rolling Stones also announced several North American dates for their ’50 and Counting’ tour.

The group kick off proceedings in May at the Staples Center in Los Angeles before heading off to Las Vegas, Toronto and Chicago among other cities.
