According to Variety, McGowan, 33, has agreed to play Susan Cabot. Filmmaker Stephan Elliot will direct the project.
Based on a Premiere magazine article written by John H. Richardson, Black Oasis follows the story of Cabot, the celebrity who was murdered by her own son at the age of 59.
Filming is set to begin this fall.
