Royal baby will be Prince or Princess of Cambridge

Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s baby will be called the Prince or Princess of Cambridge, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

Britain’s Prince William and Duchess Catherine’s baby will be called the Prince or Princess of Cambridge.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed the official title of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first child – who is due on July 13 – will be His or Her Royal Highness Prince or Princess of Cambridge with the little one’s moniker inserted after the prince/princess part of his or her name.

A Palace spokesman said: ”The royal couple’s child will officially be known as His or Her Royal Highness the Prince or Princess of Cambridge.

”The queen declared by Letters Patent on December 31 2012 that ‘all children of the eldest son of The Prince of Wales should have the style, title and attribute of Royal Highness with the titular dignity of Prince of Princess prefixed to their Christian names’.”

Sheila Stuart, former mayor of Cambridge, east England, said: ”When we did a lot of research after it was first announced that the couple were to get the title, nothing like that was found. There were some Dukes of Cambridge but not a prince or princess.

”It can only be good news for Cambridge. Everyone is so excited about it. The whole country is waiting for the birth.”

The royal baby – who will be third inline to the throne behind Prince Charles and William – will be born at St. Mary’s Hospital in London, where William was born in 1982.
