Rumours of a Toyota MR Hybrid

Working from the premise that Toyota president Akio Toyoda wants to revamp the brand’s image to attract younger buyers, the magazine made speculations about forthcoming models.

A new subsidiary to be called "G’s" was confirmed by Toyota, and its debut is set for the Tokyo Motor Show in January, with the range bearing resemblance to the Toyota Prius coupe concept.

However, Best Car took these tidbits a step further, and anticipated the coming of a hybrid sports car that will rival the Honda CR-Z. The magazine referred back to the disguised MR-2 prototype that was spotted at Nurburgring when Toyota was presenting its hybrid sports concepts with mid-mounted engines, such as the CSS shown below.

Now there is reason to believe that the Japanese are planning to return to producing green sporty hatchbacks for 2013.
