Rupert Grint in Cherrybomb

Rupert Grint will fight for a young girl’s heart in his next film.

According to Variety, the actor who plays Ron Weasley in Harry Potter films will join the cast of Cherrybomb, which already started shooting in the United Kingdom.

Rupert will star opposite two other young actors, Kimberly Nixon (to be featured in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging) and Irish actor Robert Sheehan (Young Blades).

The story focuses on two best friends, Malachy (Grint) and Luke (Sheehan), who end up competing for a beautiful but manipulative young lady, played by Nixon. However, their rivalry will end in tragedy.

Cherrybomb is the first project  that Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D’Sa will direct. The screenplay was written by Daragh Carville (Middletown).

The film will be in theatres next year.

In the meantime, Rupert Grint will return to his role as Ron in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, coming out on November 21.
