Rush to release live album

Canadian rockers start new partnership with Roadrunner Records.

After 20 years with Atlantic Records, Canadian rockers Rush have partnered with the Roadrunner Records label.

A new live album will inaugurate the new partnership, which will launch ahead of the band’s 20th studio album Clockwork Angels, due out next year.

The studio album follow-up to 2007’s Snakes and Arrows was delayed following the unexpected success of the Time Machine tour, which extended far beyond its original dates.

The tour will provide material for the new live album, and specifics are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

"After years of Roadrunner pursuing the band, [Roadrunner rep] Tom Lipsky presented a deal that worked and the timing was right," Rush manager Ray Danniels said in a statement. "We wanted to be at a label focused on the rock genre – and that’s Roadrunner."

The trio’s next studio album, Clockwork Angels, will be released by Roadrunner in 2012. The Anthem/Universal Music label will continue to release Rush’s music in Canada.
