Rush won’t slow down

The Canadian band decides to keep the creative juices flowing.

Canadian icons Rush have ruled the rock music scene for over 40 years. The trio is now working on their 19th studio album. Clockwork Angels is about half done and scheduled to be released next year.

Rush kicks off its Time Machine summer tour on June 29 in New Mexico. The band returns home to perform at the Festival d’été de Québec on July 15. There are also July concerts in Toronto, Sarnia and Ottawa. The tour wraps up on October 2 in Florida.

The band wants to return to the studio immediately after they finish the upcoming tour. Guitarist Alex Lifeson told Billboard.com: "We’ve never afforded ourselves the luxury of coming off tour and then going straight into the studio when you’re in top playing form. We usually finish a tour and then we take some time off and we slowly get back into writing and then into the studio, recording. This time we’ll go straight back into the studio and continue recording and writing while we’re still in top form from the road."

Don’t miss the award-winning documentary Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage airing this Saturday, June 26 on VH1, VH1 Classic and Palladia at 9 pm. It will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on June 29.

The world premiere was on April 24 at the 9th annual Tribeca Film Festival in NYC. Filmmakers Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn won the festival’s coveted Heineken Audience Award. The doc premiered in Canada at the Hot Docs Festival in Toronto on April 29.
