Russell Crowe Replacing Russell Crowe

The movie State of Play is back on schedule after Russell Crowe agreed to replace Brad Pitt.

The Australian actor Russell Crowe accepted to take the part that Brad Pitt abandoned in the Universal Pictures movie, directed by Kevin Macdonald, State of Play. Filming will begin in 2008 in Los Angeles and Washington.

Crowe will be acting alongside Edward Norton, Helen Mirren, Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman and Robin Wright Penn.

Crowe will play a 43-year-old politician, Cal McCaffrey that goes into journalism. He investigates the mysterious disappearance of a political figure that had a tie with the character played by Edward Norton.

Universal Pictures has not announced if they will take legal action against Brad Pitt for breaking his contract. Pitt quit because he could not agree with the director and producers on the screenplay.

While waiting for this movie to get started, Crowe is finishing the shooting for Body of Lies, directed by Ridley Scott.
