Jackson (King Kong, The Lord of the Rings) will begin filming in October in Pennsylvania and New Zealand. The film will be globally distributed by Paramount.
Jackson wrote the screenplay with his Lord of the Rings partners, Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh. It is an adaptation of the successful novel by Alice Sebold. In the film, we follow the story of Susie Salmon, who continues to watch over her family after her death. She also watches over her friends, and even her own murderer, who is nearly ready to kill again.
Gosling will play the father of the murdered girl, and Weisz will play her mother.
