According to People magazine, Phillipe has not talked to the press since it was announced on October 30 that he and wife Reese Witherspoon were divorcing. Phillipe and Witherspoon have two children, daughter Ava, 7, and son Deacon, 3.
Phillipe, 32, explained, “I’m not a perfect person, but I’m not guilty of a lot of the things I have been accused of. My priority is and always has been the health and safety of my family."
The actor, who starred in the film Crash, among others, has been faced with rumours that he is dating his recent co-star, Australian actress Abbie Cornish.
A representative for Phillippe denies that the two are involved, and also that hard partying on the part of Phillippe contributed to the divorce.
A friend of Phillippe’s concluded, "I know they love their kids to death. So they’ll do what they can to keep it from turning ugly."
