Saliva Stress Test

It is now possible to identify people vulnerable to stress and respond quickly.

Montreal researchers have developed a test to detect stress hormones in saliva. The results of this research will be presented at the Mental Health Symposium in Montreal on September 18.

Screening individuals with this test allows rapid intervention, even before symptoms of stress appear.

High stress hormone levels influence glucose, insulin and cholesterol, which can lead to diabetes, memory and immune problems.

The test monitors adrenaline and cortisol, two hormones associated with depression and burnout.

Researchers report that companies could use this test to evaluate tasks, provide support and promote a balance between work and personal life.

However, this breakthrough is not welcomed by all. There are fears that unsatisfactory results may affect the hiring of interesting candidates or discredit employees with a history of stress at work.

Researchers advocate the use of their test with a serious code of ethics.
