Samuel Montembeault to face Blues tomorrow night

Martin St-Louis spoke to reporters live from the team hotel in Saint-Louis.

The coach confirmed that Samuel Montembeault will get the start against the Blues:

Jake Allen was in net for the team against the Coyotes last night and did well in his club’s loss.

The veteran continued his winning streak, stopping 32 of 35 pucks. He’s off to a great start this season…

And Samuel Montembeault can also boast some good times of late.

Much is made of the fact that Cayden Primeau needs to play to develop, but it’s the performance of the two “experienced” goaltenders that complicates matters in the young man’s case.

At least, that’s what the head coach said:

Samuel Montembeault will then play a fifth game this season.

It’s important for him to play as much as possible because he’s currently in the final year of the two-year contract he signed with the CH in the summer of 2022.

Monty will once again have the opportunity to shine, and he deserves it. His stats have been good since the start of the season, especially in view of the fact that he played in the game against the Wild at the Bell Centre, in which his team-mates simply let him down.

  • 2-1-1 record
  • .905 efficiency rate
  • 2.91 goals-against average

It’s a pity, but it’s Cayden Primeau (again) who gets the axe. It’s been said over and over again… But it’s time for a decision in his case.

Because right now, he’s not progressing. The Habs need to evaluate their options if they are not to damage the career of this 24-year-old goaltender.
