Britain’s Duchess of York was joined by her daughters as she opened an outpatient facility for young cancer patients earlier this week.
Sarah Ferguson – ex-wife of Prince Andrew – and her girls, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, unveiled a plaque at University College Hospital’s Macmillan Cancer Centre in London.
The Teenage Cancer Trust Hub – which was built after three years of fundraising for the $4.8 million required – will provide day care and outpatient facilities for patients aged 13 to 24 across London and its surrounding areas.
The center will allow young people to be treated in an environment designed with teenagers in mind.
Sarah – has been patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust since 1990 – tweeted before the unveiling: ”I am so honoured to be opening the new TeenageCancer unit UCLH cancer centre today. (sic)”
The new unit will provide outpatient treatment for young patients across London and the surrounding areas.
Last year, Sarah officially opened a cancer treatment centre for young at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, East Anglia.
The facility allows people of the same age to sit down and discuss what they are going through.
