After five months of dating, the romance between Scarlett Johansson, 26, and Sean Penn, 50, appears to be over, reports Us magazine. There was speculation the couple were no longer together when Penn attended the French Cannes Film Festival alone while the Lost in Translation actress was filming in New Mexico.
According to one source, the real reason Penn broke up with Johansson was that he didn’t want anything “serious” after his divorce last year from Princess Bride star Robin Wright.
Yet earlier this week, it’s possible the two lovebirds may have reconciled. They were photographed together at Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards on June 4 in Los Angeles.
However a witness at the event insinuated to Us that the actress’ presence was unwanted: "She pushed herself into his conversations. She sat down between him and Robert De Niro. Robert was like ‘What?’ and made a face.” When a photographer asked for a shot of the two of them, the source said, “Before Sean could say no, she said yes.”
At the awards ceremony, Johansson mentioned to JustJared.com that she was just in town as a presenter that evening: “I just flew in from New Mexico, where I’ve been shooting ‘The Avengers.’ A bunch of the cast is here tonight, but I’m here to support the troops. Chris Evans and I are presenting. We’re right in the middle of scenes and figuring a lot of stuff out. I’ve been training a lot and doing all sorts of exercises.”
Last December, Scarlett Johansson and Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds announced they were getting divorce after two years of marriage.
