Marlon and Shawn Wayans are continuing to bank on the success of their first hit comedy, Scary Movie, from 2000. The original film earned more than $156 million at box offices world wide.
In a recent interview, the two brothers confirmed that their fifth entry of the film series will be in theatres in 2008. Actress Anna Faris will again play the principal character, Cindy Campbell, and Regina Hall will return to the role of Brenda.
Scary Movie 5 is currently in development for Dimension Films and will be distributed by The Weinstein Company. Like the previous films in the series, the film will parody many of the current horror movies. David Zucker, who directed the classic comedy Airplane! in 1980, will direct the film.
